Jessie Burton studied at Oxford University and the Central School of Speech and Drama, where she performed in numerous theatrical productions.
Her debut novel was sold at an 11-publisher auction at the London Book Fair in April 2013, subsequently selling rights in 29 countries.
Published by Picador in 2014, it became a massive bestseller and was adapted by the BBC. Her second novel, The Muse, followed in 2016, exploring dual timelines across the Spanish Civil War and 1960s London.
She further expanded her writing into children's literature with The Restless Girls, published in 2018.
