رابین آی. ام. دانبار

متولد 1947

رابین ایان مک‌دونالد دانبار انسان‌شناس و روانشناس تکاملی بریتانیایی است که به خاطر کارهایش در زمینه رفتار پستانداران شناخته شده است.
او مفهوم «عدد دانبار» را توسعه داد که به محدودیت شناختی در تعداد روابط اجتماعی پایدار که انسان‌ها می‌توانند حفظ کنند، اشاره دارد.
دوران تحصیلی دانبار شامل مؤسسات معتبر همچون دانشگاه کمبریج، کالج دانشگاهی لندن و دانشگاه لیورپول است.
در سال 1386، او به عنوان مدیر مؤسسه انسان‌شناسی شناختی و تکاملی در دانشگاه آکسفورد منصوب شد.
تحقیقات دانبار بر روی تکامل رفتار اجتماعی انسان متمرکز است و با ترکیب بینش‌های انسان‌شناسی، روانشناسی و زیست‌شناسی به بررسی پیچیدگی‌های روابط انسانی و ساختارهای اجتماعی می‌پردازد.
