روان‌شناسی علمی

دکتر گابور ماته، پزشک مجارستانی-کانادایی است که در زمینه‌ی درمان اعتیاد و ارتباطات سلامت ذهن و بدن تخصص دارد.
او که در سال ۱۳۲۳ به دنیا آمد، از نسل‌کشی نازی‌ها جان سالم به در برد و در سال ۱۳۳۶ به کانادا مهاجرت کرد.
پس از یک دوره فعالیت در طب خانواده و مراقبت‌های تسکینی، اکنون ماته با بیمارانی که از بیماری‌های روانی، اعتیاد به مواد مخدر و اچ‌آی‌وی رنج می‌برند، در منطقه‌ی داون‌تاون ایست‌ساید ونکوور کار می‌کند.
او به طور گسترده‌ای درباره‌ی اعتیاد، ADHD و ارتباط بین تروما و سلامت جسمانی نوشته است.
ماته به خاطر دیدگاه‌های جنجالی‌اش در مورد درمان اعتیاد شناخته شده و با دفاع از سایت‌های تزریق تحت نظارت، خبرساز شده است.
کار او چالش‌هایی را برای رویکردهای پزشکی متعارف ایجاد کرده و بر نقش تجربیات کودکی در نتایج سلامت بزرگسالی تأکید دارد.
