Genevieve Cogman developed her love of fantasy and mystery early, influenced by Tolkien and Sherlock Holmes.
Her academic background is surprisingly scientific—she holds an MSc in Statistics with Medical Applications—which she applied across roles including clinical coder, data analyst, and classifications specialist.
Before transitioning to fiction, she worked as a freelance roleplaying game writer, contributing meaningfully to the gaming world.
Her debut novel launched what would become a beloved fantasy series.
Outside of writing, Cogman enjoys creative hobbies including patchwork, beading, knitting, and gaming.
She currently resides in the north of England.
