Bernard MacLaverty
Bernard MacLaverty was born in Belfast in 1942 and relocated to Scotland in 1975 with his family.
He has had a diverse career, working as a Medical Laboratory Technician, English teacher, and Writer-in-Residence at the University of Aberdeen.
Having lived in Edinburgh and the Isle of Islay, he now resides in Glasgow.
A member of Aosdána in Ireland, he also serves as Visiting Writer/Professor at the University of Strathclyde.
A prolific author, he has published five short story collections and four novels, and has adapted his work for radio, television, and film, even writing and directing the short film Bye-Child.
